(where i guess i could have used my fathers nor in the sofa-computer…)
I’m babysitting my part-time-siblings in Fredrikstad, and they are sleeping. It’s a Saturday night, and I really don’t want to work, so I tried to find something funnier. “The internet!” I thought. “The internet has all kinds of fun things!“
I’ve been trying to guess my way into the family wireless connection for an hour. I should give up, but every ten minutes my mind flash back onto “I should ask my fellow Maskerade-players about our relationships” (interlude where I try to find the secret internet code, and where I fail.) I give up, I start reading about guilds and male bonding in early modern europe, and suddenly think that “I should check if they have that book about early modern masculinity in the library” (interlude where I try to find the secret internet code, and where I fail.) I derail, and think I should do yoga “I wonder how the downloading of the crappy yoga videos are going” I ask myself: (interlude where I try to find the secret internet code, and where I fail.)
I’ve been trying to guess my way into “Speider” (boyscouts), “Bandidos-fredrikstad”, “hack-net” and “Rwanda”. What kind of world is this, where hack-net is unhackable and bandidos have an awsome internet connection that’s for bandidos members only?

After having been “repaired” for three months or so, I finally got my old phone back, unrepaired. The repairing firm wrote that it was water-damaged which isn’t convered by the guarantee. And no. I haven’t been dipping the phone in glasses of water, not even tea (although, being diuretic and all, perhaps that would drain hte water out of the phone.) The phone really wasn’t even moist when it broke.
Seeing as the phone I’m currently using insist on turning itself off everytime I speak to anyone, even when the battery is full, i started looking for the cheapest noki (those are hte only ones i understand) phone i could find online. The chess web shop doesn’t have any cheap ones anymore, and i think the cheapest one I found online is the nokia 1200. But it doesn’t say if it has a wirdlist-function. Does all phones have a wordlist function these days?
Please say that it has. It looks nice and low tech.
Today I’ve been to the dentist and filled my first (albeit tiny) cavity since I was 18. I’ve also checked my eyesight, and although my eyesight seems to be the best on this side of town, which is relieving, my head hurts. Off to study, I guess, and i’ve picked up the unrepaired phone.

I’ve always taken a small amount of pride in my ability to dress well, and by well I mean “to avoid freezing during winter, and to always have a scarf, a cap and mittens when it’s cold”. Unfortunately, I managed to gain a few kilos this summer, which again rendered my winter clothes too small, and the trousers riding too low compared to my jacket. I’ll be the first to say that there’s something wrong with the clothes, when there’s a gap between the super-underwear and the trousers, but I guess we all have to deal with what’s available, so I’m doing that.
In the meantime, when people asked me “aren’t you cold, with that thin velvet jacket”, I decided that admitting that I was freezing because I actually didn’t have any winter clothes would be embarassing, so, almost clappering my teeth I kept responding that “nah, I have mittens and super underwear, why should I be cold?” But my jacket was too tight to fit a knitted jumper into, and the wind goes straight though knitted garments. I gradually grew sick of being cold.
Today, I decided to go to the salvation army and buy the most practical jacket I could get for less than 200kr, and although not too pretty, it feels like the best thing I’ve ever bought. It’s got a) oilskin, so I won’t get wet. b) reaches the middle of my thighs c) waterproof lining under my butt d) small sleevelets that prevents the cold from creeping up my wrists e) pockets f) room for a knitted jumper underneath. All these are things that the prettier other jacket doesn’t have. I’m in love, though I assume that the other, pretty jacket increases the chance of other people loving me.

On another note: I finished my exams on friday, and I’m slowly regaining my ability to think about non schoolrelated things. It’s odd that there actually is a transition, but after hardly doing anything else for a month, it actually is. Now, after reading some literature, and after catching up with the newspapers, i think I’ll grow back in the shape of a normal person once again.

I don’t write much these days, and partly has to do with life being faster than my ability to write about it. Or as the beautyful Amanda Palmer said some time ago: “to write about it during it would have seemed like a violation, as tasteless as stopping incredible sex to discourse thoughtfully with your partner about how incredible the sex is.”
Unfortunately, that’s only part of the explanation. The other aspect is all my technological difficulties. How my sexy new computer is full of vista and really trying to prevent me from being online, and how internet at home has been an on and off thing lately, and how my new computer doesn’t recognise my camera when I plug it in. Being between computers is like being between relationships, leaving the old one can be relieving, but adapting to a new one is always tough.
And finally. I’ve decided to start parallell blogging. Unfortunately, my brand spanking new wordpress blog is playing up. I can’t change the CSS of it to make it 550 pixels wide. I’ve asked support about it, but they told me ask for help on the CSS forums that I’m unable to find. I don’t want to write up a post with photos from copenhagen when it will be ugly because of the wordpress blog style. I now understand why I prefere LJ, but I really want to live a secret, identical, parallell life over at wordpress too.

I’ve been trying to convince myself that i’m an avid newspaper reader for years. Updated people read at least two news papers every day, but I don’t. As a matter of fact i’m more likely to read one paper a week. At a maximum. It’s been two weeks since i moved to oslo, since i left my office job where I was listening to the radio all the time. And I already feel really out of touch with the world. I need to go and buy myself a functioning dab radio really soon. Does anyone have any good ideas? Anyone know one that isn't shit expensive? I need one, and I need one now. Making dinner-time is a good time for being updated on hte news. When sitting down, or at the bus I much prefere novels.
I also need a new computer. First it gnawed it’s way though a plastic bag and fell to the ground. It survived that. Nothing bad came out of it. But my luck was about to turn, and while it was standing peacefully on the table, the hinges of one of my wardrobe doors broke, and the door fell straight down on my coffee table and the computer fell down, got cosmetic damages and has turned into the slowest computer I’ve ever used. The guarantee doesn’t cover crap like this. I need a new computer. I need a healthy one.
I just did my civic duty and voted. Go me. It always makes me feel good. Perhaps I'd feel even better if I get to vote more often?
